“Oh man…. how much longer until I’m done for today?” John thought to himself, idly flipping burgers as he counted down the minutes to when he could finally quit for the evening. The tired, worn-out twentysomething was just waiting for the day to end so he could get back home and get a few hours rest. That was all he could do, given that his boss seemed to have a bone to pick with him, calling him out to work at the most inappropriate times and everything. He had been working continuously for the last three weeks, not getting much time to rest in between shifts.

“Almost time now…” He thought, watching the clock tick closer to 6pm. Eventually it reached that time, and he couldn’t be more relieved. “Thank Arceus, I can finally punch out for the evening!” He smiled, leaving the grills as he went to get his stuff.

“And just where do you think you’re going?” An all too familiar voice called out behind him.

“Ugh… I’m going home for the evening.” He turned to face his boss, a tall, middle-aged balding man whom everyone called Mr Sykes. “There’s not a problem with me doing that now, is there?”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t bother going too far. We’re undermanned today, so we’re going to need someone to help run the night shift. And as you’re the only person around here with nothing to do, I thought you’d be perfect!”

“What? Come on, I’m really tired! I haven’t been able to pay for the heating this week because you cut my pay, so I’ve had some really rough sleep!”

“Hey, you wanna get a pay raise? You gotta put your worthless butt in gear and show me that you’re a team player here!”

“And how do you expect me to do that when you’re continuously running me into the ground?”

“That’s not my problem. You better be back here in three hours!” He turned away from John. “Now if you are done complaining, I’ve gotta go get ready for my date! I’m planning on taking her for a night on the town she’ll never forget!”

“Yeah yeah, you pudgy son of a…” He said under his breath as he grabbed his stuff. “Well if I’m gonna be stuck here tonight, I might as well go for a walk and get some fresh air and a coffee.”

Knowing he couldn’t go too far before he had to go back to work, he thought it’d be a good idea to visit the local park. He had never been there much in the last few weeks, amazed at just how quiet the place had gotten now the summer holidays had ended. With the exception of all the Pokémon that roamed the park of an evening, it was pretty quiet.

“Maybe I should head to this place more often…” He thought to himself, looking around him as he wandered along the pathway. “Seems like a good place to try to forget about my worries.” He walked quite a bit into the nearby forest, losing track of the time. There wasn’t a single cloud in the sky, the light of the moon being cast upon the ground.

“Oh crud, the time!” He stopped suddenly, looking at his watch - he was due back at the burger bar in ten minutes time! “I better run if I wanna get back there on time!” He told himself wearily as he broke into a dash, going back along the path he had followed. Not watching where he was going, he tripped on a loose rock, falling to his side as he rolled down the slope. To make matters worse, instead of landing on somewhere soft, he plummeted head first down a hole that someone had been digging.

“GAH!” He yelped as he hit the ground. “Oooh….damn, that really hurt…” He brushed himself off as he got back up. He took a look above him, seeing if there was a way back out. Whilst there was the hole he had fallen into, there was no means of getting back out through it, not being able to see a ladder of any kind. “Great… I’m stuck down here for the night it seems… when I get out of here, Sykes is gonna kill me…!” He panicked for a moment before noticing a dim light shining on from ahead of him. “Huh… maybe that might lead me out of here…” He followed it, hoping that it’d lead him back to the surface. Ten minutes later, he was still walking underground.

“Holy hell, how much longer is this path going to go on for?!” He exclaimed - he knew he was going to be in deep trouble when he eventually got out of there. He was starting to think that someone was having him on, when eventually he came across something out of the ordinary.

“Woah… what’s all this?” His eyes widened in awe as he came across an old looking shrine, decorated with several hundred rubies, sapphires and emeralds. From what he could see, it depicted Hoenn’s Weather Trio of Legendary Pokémon - the Continent Pokémon, Groudon, the Sea Basin Pokémon, Kyogre, and the Sky High Pokémon, Rayquaza. The shrine depicted the three powerful creatures standing tall over their respective domains. “This thing is AWESOME… I wonder how many years it’s been buried under here, though?” He moved closer to the shrine, looking at the depictions of the trio - they appeared to look slightly different than their usual designs, but it didn’t detract from the beauty of it. “It seems like a shame to keep this hidden here…” He ran a hand slowly across the muzzle of the emerald Rayquaza, admiring it. As he did this, the jewels began to shine with a mysterious light, bathing the chamber in a vibrant green glow.

“What’s going on?!” He tried to shield his eyes from the light, almost being blinded by it. Eventually the light died down, leaving him standing before the three statues once again. “Well… that was strange… I guess I might as well try and find my way back out of here again!”

He went to turn away from the shrine and look for a way out when he suddenly fell forwards again, landing on his face. “Gah… what on earth?” He tried to push himself back up onto his feet, but he couldn’t feel anything below his waist. “Ok, this really isn’t...good…” He paused when he saw that he was beginning to grow longer, his spine slowly stretching. Along his spine, emerald green scales sprouted across his form, forming in segments as they were split apart by thin lines of black scales. Along some parts of his increasingly segmented body, yellow markings appeared on his sides, the parts without markings gaining four large scaly spines rimmed with crimson.

“The HELL….” He gasped, running a hand slowly across the new scales. He moved his other hand to his legs, feeling that they were shrinking away, his jeans and underwear slipping away as his spine extended outwards, growing into a long, broad tail. As it grew outwards, it took on an appearance similar to the rest of his body, parts being covered in glowing yellow circles, parts sporting broad plates. The tip of his growing tail grew to an inverted, arrow-like point,a point forming in the middle of it as the fins were lined with crimson scales. Looking over himself, he saw that his appearance was slightly different to the statue, his body much longer, his giant tail coiling around itself like a snake’s would.

The scales consumed his hands, giant ivory claws emerging from his fingertips as two broad plates emerged from under his shoulder blades, ripping a hole in the back of his shirt. His hair fell away as his neck grew longer, four giant horns growing from the top and bottom of his head, the lower pair smaller in size. The glowing scales covered the top part of his head, ears shrinking into tiny holes as his jaws thrusted forwards, crimson scales covering his lips as his teeth grew into sharpened fangs, tongue growing long and forked. His eyes moved to the sides of his head, turning a brighter shade of yellow, the sclera turning black as his pupils pulled into slits.

For a few moments, he thought his transformation was over. He was slightly taller than a standard Rayquaza, not to mention he had useable hands. That’s when things got a little more weird. His entire body pulsed and trembled, muscles pulsing as they began to grow larger, his body growing slightly broader. His shirt tore apart as his muscled chest was exposed, revealing black scales along the middle of his front, splitting out in a Y pattern as his pectorals surged bigger. His arms quadrupled in size, his claws growing bigger still as his shoulders broadened.

“Gh...hruaahgghhhh!” He groaned, his body growing even longer as his head bumped against the ceiling. His tail thrashed around the ground as he had to stretch himself longer to stop him from being crushed, ripping a hole in the ground above him as he burst through it. He pushed himself free of his trappings, taking off into the sky as he hovered a good fifty feet away from the ground, his entire body floating freely around him as he looked over himself.

“Ghh...hrrrggh….oooh man…” He growled, his voice sounding deeper and gruffer. “What was all that about…” He lowered himself back to the ground, his broad body slithering across the stone and grass. He saw a lake not too far from where he was currently standing, making his way over towards it to take a better look at himself. From head to tail, he was forty six feet tall, his scaly body appearing slender, whilst at the same time, concealing hundreds of tonnes of solid muscle. “Hehe…. well look at me now…” He grinned, revealing rows of gleaming fangs as he admired his new form. The naga-like Rayquaza raised himself off the ground again, taking in his surroundings as he took to the skies. “I wonder… just where did Sykes say he was taking his date again?”

~~~~~~~~~~
“Mmm, that was a good meal!” Sykes’s date said, rubbing her stomach contently. “That had to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!”
“I’m glad you liked it.” He chuckled to her. “You know, you didn’t have to dress this fancy for a date, this wasn’t even the best restaurant in town!”
“I know, but this is our first big date out, I felt like I needed to wear something special!”
“Well if that’s the reason, I can’t really fault you there. You’re going to be okay wearing that in the cinema though, right?”
“It shouldn’t be too much of a problem. All we’re going to have is some popcorn, and I can take this jacket off in there so I won’t have to worry about spilling any drinks on it.”
“As long as you’re sure.” He took her hand, walking down the road with her.
Hundreds of feet above them, John soared through the sky, keeping a keen eye on the ground below. Soon enough, he found the two of them, just a couple of minutes away from their destination.
“That’s his date?” He said in total disbelief, wondering how someone as unattractive as him could land a date as hot as her. “Sheesh, I know they say opposites attract, but this is taking it to its logical extreme! Oh well, I might as well give him some payback for what he’s been putting me through!” He grinned, the markings on his body glowing. Seconds later, the sound of thunder spread through the air, storm clouds appearing as bolts of lightning lit up the sky. This was immediately followed by the heavens opening up, rain pouring down on the earth below. Sykes and his date were very quickly doused by the torrential rain.
“Ah, what the hell’s going on?!” Sykes gasped, trying to shield himself from the bad weather. His date had it much worse, her dress being soaked through. “It wasn’t meant to rain tonight!”
“MY DRESSSSSS!!” She shrieked, making him jump several feet into the air. “THIS WAS MY BEST DRESS!! IT’S NOT MEANT TO GET WET!!”
“Chill out! I can pay you for a new dress easily!” He tried to console her. “But what on earth brought this on so quickly… one moment it’s nice and clear, the second…” He stopped when he caught sight of the large, powerful Rayquaza hovering in the air. He thought that it was just simply having its fun, but he turned slightly pale when he noticed that the great beast was looking at him with a sinister grin. “No… it couldn't be…” He gasped as the Rayquaza darted off into the sky, leaving him and his date alone.
“Hehe, now that felt good!” John chuckled to himself, leaving the stormy part of the city behind as he landed atop a large skyscraper in the heart of the city. He coiled gently around it, not wanting to cause any damage to it. “I might have to do that more often, see what else I’m capable of…”
Below him, people started to gather at the base of the building, murmuring and mumbling between each other as they looked up at the giant Rayquaza coiling around the tower. Most of their reaction seemed to be out of awe and amazement, having never seen a creature like him before. Most people had at least seen what a standard Rayquaza looked like, but this one was out of the ordinary.
“Hrm? What’s this?” He slithered down the building, taking a closer look at the humans. Some of them started bowing before him, praising him. “Now this I wasn’t expecting at all… but I think I could get used to this… being treated like a god.” He smirked.
Over the next few days, the city had experienced some of the best weather they have had in weeks, almost as if they were experiencing a second summer. The shrine that he had discovered days before had been brought to the surface, being placed at the center of the temple that was being built for him. He knew that the other two creatures depicted, Groudon and Kyogre, would be freed at some point, and for all he knew, it could be capable of creating more Rayquaza like him, but for the time being, he enjoyed all the attention he was getting from everyone.
